CUMCS – Control Union Medical Cannabis Standard
CUMCS is an international standard developed by Control Union to certify the production of medicinal cannabis under specific criteria of Good Agricultural Practices (G.A.P) and Good Agricultural and Collection Practices for Medicinal Plants (GACP). It applies to the entire production process, from cultivation to post-harvest, ensuring traceability, safety, and quality of plant raw materials.

Control Union Medical Cannabis Standard GAP (CUMCS-GAP)
About the standard
This scheme was designed as a concrete response to the needs of a highly regulated and growing sector. It integrates the international guidelines of the World Health Organization (WHO) for GACP, transforming them into verifiable operational requirements.
CUMCS covers key aspects such as:
-
Genetic selection of plants (genotype, phenotype, chemotype).
-
Infrastructure authorized by health authorities.
-
Staff training.
-
Technical documentation and risk management.
Benefits
-
Compliance with international (WHO) guidelines for medicinal cannabis production.
-
Added value for license holders, investors, and pharmaceutical laboratories.
-
Global recognition of the certificate in export markets.
-
Technical traceability of CBD and THC from cultivation to commercialization.
Equivalencies
The CUMCS-G.A.P standard issues, in addition to its own certificate, an additional certificate confirming compliance with GACP guidelines (Good Agricultural and Collection Practices for Medicinal Plants, according to WHO). Both certificates are widely recognized in the global medicinal cannabis market.
In addition, CUMCS-G.A.P has been recognized by the Israeli Ministry of Health (IMCA) as equivalent to its official IMC-G.A.P scheme and is accepted as the basis for all medicinal cannabis imports into the country.
