Greenhouse Gases

ISO 14064-2

    About the standard

ISO 14064-2 provides requirements for designing, validating, or verifying projects that generate GHG reductions or removals. It assesses the baseline, the methodology used, and the net amount of emissions avoided or removed. It is a key tool for supporting real and transferable climate results.

    Why it matters?

    • Technically validate projects that reduce emissions.

    • Verify the results obtained to support reports, carbon credits, or internal objectives.

    • Submit validated and/or verified reductions in voluntary programs or corporate sustainability schemes.

    Who can apply?

    • Companies with their own reduction projects (efficiency, renewable energy, cleaner processes).

    • Carbon project developers.

    • Organizations that want to certify specific and measurable environmental impacts.

    Verification Process

    Initial Contact

    Initial contact and project definition.

    Analysis and Methodology

Baseline analysis, methodology, and monitoring system.

    Verification or Validation

Validation or verification according to project stage.

    Final Report

Issuance of the report and validation/verification opinion together with the technical report of the project.

    Relationship with ISO 14064-1

While Part 1 measures what an organization emits, Part 2 validates projects to reduce and/or remove emissions that are intended to be reduced or avoided. Both can be combined to demonstrate a comprehensive climate strategy: measurement + action.
