Materials Matter Standard
Textile Exchange is introducing a new certification framework that will progressively replace GRS, RCS, RWS, RMS and RAS.
RWS – Responsible Wool Standard
RWS is a standard that ensures wool comes from farms that guarantee animal welfare and apply good practices in pasture and soil management. It applies from the field to the final product, including all intermediate stages.
GRS – Global Recycled Standard
GRS (Global Recycled Standard) is an international scheme that certifies not only the recycled content of a textile product, but also its environmental, chemical, and social compliance throughout the entire supply chain. It is a comprehensive tool for companies seeking to demonstrate responsible production with comprehensive traceability.
OCS – Organic Content Standard
OCS allows for verification of the presence and traceability of organic fibers in textile products. It certifies that the declared organic content comes from verified sources, although it does not evaluate industrial processes or subsequent social or environmental criteria. It is an accessible option for brands that work with organic inputs and want to highlight their commitment.
GOTS – Global Organic Textile Standard
GOTS is the most globally recognized standard for textile production with organic fibers, from the harvesting of raw materials to the final product. It certifies not only the organic content but also environmental, social, and chemical conditions throughout the entire supply chain.
