EUDR Verification Protocol
The EUDR Verification Protocol is a verification scheme that ensures compliance with the European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) by verifying that products are deforestation-free and legally produced. It applies to various stakeholders (producers, processors, traders, and exporters), tailoring the verification process to their specific role in the supply chain.
About the standard
The protocol developed by Control Union establishes a structured framework to verify compliance with the EUDR, ensuring that products do not originate from deforested areas, comply with the legislation of the country of origin, and are supported by due diligence systems. It covers the entire supply chain, from production to commercialization, through independent audits.
The program is modular and flexible, allowing different levels of verification depending on the type of operation: from field validation, through facilities and processes, to the verification of specific batches. It includes risk assessment, traceability, segregation, and document control, ensuring transparency and consistency in compliance.
Benefits
- Enables demonstrable compliance with applicable EUDR requirements, reduces risks of access to the European market, and strengthens supply chain traceability.
- Additionally, it provides a practical and adaptable approach depending on the type of operation, improving risk management, transparency, and the confidence of clients and authorities.
